With its largest portfolio tasting since undergoing a change of ownership in 2012, Martine’s Wines welcomes the wine trade for its Grand Tastings of 2017 in the cities of Chicago and New York next month.
“We have an amazing pool of producers attending,” said Damien Carney, Director of Sales for Direct Markets. “That is personal contact with the people who make these wines. Having that resource for our customers is invaluable.”
On March 27th, twenty producers from the Martine’s Wines stable will descend on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago to gather at Sofitel from 11:00am to 2:00pm to share their wines and stories with guests. Just a day later on March 28th, Martine’s Wines and its bevy of winemakers will host members of the New York wine trade (in partnership with Schatzi Wines) at Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
“These events are about the wine community,” said Jennifer Mass, Director of Sales for Distributor Markets. “Our customers advocate for these wines daily in their restaurants and wine shops, and we are able to give them this exciting glimpse into Martine’s Wines.”
According to the company’s Director of Purchasing, Pete Monteleone, the producers in attendance will represent a rich array of tastemakers.
“This goes beyond what we’ve been most known for in the past,” Monteleone explained. “It is an exciting collection of people from all over, and many of the producers are either brand new or have been recently added to our portfolio in the last 2-3 years. Plus, we have some of the old greats who keep us anchored in our tradition.”
Carney shared a similar sentiment about the Grand Tastings, seeing them as events of marked significance for the company that legendary importer Martine Saunier founded in 1979.
“What a cool blend of old and new—Classic Martine’s and New Martine’s,” said Carney. “It’s an important moment in the evolution of our portfolio and our company. It’s really a celebration of this moment in the company’s history.”
Members of the trade are invited to go to SevenFifty or Eventbrite to see the list of visiting producers and reserve tickets for these events. To stay current with Martine’s Wines, follow online through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
