Vineyards & Viticulture
Philippe Gayral purchased the 1979 vintage from the cellars of Domaine Bernard Marie, the same owner as Château Viguerie. The dry weather of Roussillon and the mainly schist soils and large rocks found at the foothills of the Pyrenees allow for the freshness and acidity in these “poire pour la soif” wines. In 2012, Greg Castells and Kate Laughlin had the incredible privilege of taking over Martine’s Wines, a company created by Martine Saunier herself in 1979. To celebrate the ten years since this acquisition, we have created this Maury, a blend of two significant vintages. 1979 brings complexity and depth, showing its roots in history, while the 2012 contributes freshness, fruit and vibrancy, representing new ideas and forward momentum. The result is a wine with impeccable balance, in which each component is elevated by the other.

Harvest & Vinification
The 1979 portion of the wine was aged three years in underground concrete tanks and 37 years in foudres. The 2012 portion was aged for about ten years. Bottled straight from cask.
